Biomonitoring of pollination

from from €1100 excl. tax/year per year and per hive
Description

Arboriculture, seed selection and production, and market gardening all require control over pollination. To go further than counting hives for a production area. To have the necessary and sufficient pollinator population and understand the impact on variations in production, we need objective measurements. Bee biomonitoring is the answer to this need to measure the pollination service.

Biomonitoring of pollination

vague

Arboriculture, seed selection and production, and market gardening all require mastery of the pollination service. To go further than counting hives for a production area. To have the necessary and sufficient pollinator population and understand the impact on variations in production, objective measurements are needed. Bee biomonitoring is the answer to this need to measure the pollination service.

01

Installation of biomonitoring sensors

BeeGuard's professional sensors are easily adapted to existing hives. Lightweight and easy to handle by the beekeeper, installation takes just a few minutes on the farmer's own hives or on rented hives supplied by a beekeeper. No modifications are required to the hives, and the sensors can be adapted to all hive formats. This means that the biomonitoring service can be set up only during the pollination period. No intervention is required during the analysis period.

02

Collecting bee activity data

As soon as they are installed, the sensors produce data on bee activity, bee health and climate. The data can be consulted at any time using the dedicated BeeGuard application. All the data can be exported for specific use. Ownership of the data is entirely held by our customers, to enable them to control their know-how.

03

Pollination service analysis

A report at the end of the measurement sequence summarises the analysis of all the data and highlights the key events. The report also presents key indicators such as foraging potential in relation to climatic conditions, foraging yield for hive development and foraging effort. All of this factual data is used to work towards a balanced beekeeper-farmer relationship with the aim of achieving the best pollination results.

F.A.Q

Below are our answers to the questions most frequently asked of our support and sales departments. If you can't find the answer to your question here, please contact us.

You need bees to pollinate. The hive unit in the pollination service is a false friend... There are different hive sizes, but above all there are big variations in swarm size. What's more, over-pollination is generally not recommended. Measuring the performance of your pollination service will help you to optimise your operation. Contact us to discuss your pollination expectations and challenges.

The sensors can be fitted to any hive in just a few minutes, without having to modify it. All you have to do is inform your beekeeper, and he can install the sensors himself if he wishes.
